League City requirements

League City public-work bonds

A current League City project package requires performance, payment and maintenance bonds at 100% of the total contract price, from a Texas-authorised surety meeting the package's qualification rules, and earlier city notices use 5% bid security. Those are project requirements, not a citywide contractor rule — the reviewed registration materials do not establish a blanket League City contractor bond.

Statewide, Texas Government Code Chapter 2253 sets the floor on governmental public work: a payment bond above $50,000 and a performance bond above $100,000. A city solicitation can and often does require more — a higher bid security, a specific surety rating, a maintenance term measured in years, or original documents delivered to a named address by a named time.

That last detail causes more lost bids than pricing does. Submit the full solicitation to us rather than a summary of it, because the bond forms, maintenance term, surety rating and delivery instructions can change from one League City project to the next.

League City lies mainly in Galveston County with a portion in Harris County, so county court, probate and title instructions follow the applicant's actual jurisdiction rather than the mailing city.

Texas and federal bonds

Texas and federal bonds are the same statewide — even when you buy from a local Houston agent.

Most customers searching for a surety bond in a Houston-area city do not actually need a city bond. Auto-dealer, notary, bonded-title, mortgage-broker, public-adjuster, TABC, freight-broker, Medicare, court, and fidelity bonds are created by a Texas or federal requirement. The amount and obligee do not change because your business is in League City rather than Houston.

What does change is the filing path. A bonded-title customer usually works through the county tax assessor-collector serving the vehicle owner. A probate or guardianship bond follows the court handling the estate. A contractor bidding a city project follows that solicitation's bond forms. We identify the obligee first, so you do not buy the right kind of bond on the wrong form.

Common bondAmount / termAuthority
Texas auto dealer $50,000 / 2 years TxDMV
Freight broker (BMC-84) $75,000 / annual FMCSA
Texas notary $10,000 / 4 years Texas Secretary of State

Texas public adjuster $10,000 / annual Texas Department of Insurance
Medicare DMEPOS $50,000 / annual CMS
Performance bond Usually contract amount Project owner / contract documents
Payment bond Usually contract amount Project owner / Texas public-work law
How it works

Three steps from requirement to issued bond.

  1. 01

    Send the requirement

Call (281) 484-8320 or start a free quote. Send the bond form, permit application, court order, bid documents, or agency notice if you have it.

  2. 02

We confirm the obligee and form

We check whether the requirement belongs to the city, county, State of Texas, federal government, court, or private project owner. League City crosses the Galveston and Harris county line, so the property, record, or court order decides the filing route.

  3. 03

    Approve, issue, and file

Most license and permit bonds can be approved the same day. Contract and court bonds may require financial information or a court order. We issue on the required form and tell you where the original or electronic bond goes.

Where to file

Filing guidance for League City.

Deliver bid and final bonds exactly where the solicitation directs, on the forms in the project manual, and confirm whether originals are required. Galveston County maintains offices serving League City; Harris County matters follow Harris County.

Do not choose a county from the mailing city alone — send us the record or order and we will confirm which county office or court applies.

League City FAQ

Questions League City applicants ask us.

How large are League City final bonds?

A current city project package requires performance, payment and maintenance bonds at 100% of the total contract price, from a Texas-authorised surety meeting the package's qualification rules. Read your own solicitation — the percentages and surety requirements vary by project.

Is a maintenance bond always required?

Not universally. The project documents control, and some League City packages include a maintenance obligation after acceptance while others do not.

Does every League City contractor need a bond?

No blanket city contractor-bond requirement was established in the reviewed sources. Bonds come from the project — a public solicitation or a private owner — or from a state licensing agency.

Which county handles my court or title filing?

Follow the property, the vehicle record, or the court. League City sits mainly in Galveston County with a portion in Harris County, so the mailing address alone does not decide it.

When should I request a bid bond?

Before bid day, with the full package and your bid amount. That gives time to confirm the surety rating the package demands, complete underwriting, and get an original delivered where the solicitation requires.

Why League City customers call us

Houston-based help without pretending there is an office in every suburb.

One agent, every obligee

We serve the entire metro from 360 FM 1959 in southeast Harris County. You get a Texas agent who can read the city form, court order, or bid package — not a location page that routes to a generic call center.

Municipal, state, federal, court

More than 40 years of combined insurance experience across municipal, state, federal, contract, court, and fidelity bonds, handled through one relationship rather than four brokers.

Right form the first time

We confirm the obligee, amount, and form before issuing — which matters most in split-county and unincorporated communities where the mailing address does not decide the requirement.
